Day 2

I have started on a new scarf. I really should be trying to broaden my horizons, but I got this yarn at my local Michael's. It is Moda Dea "Wild!" and I got it for $1 a skein! It is in the spring colorway, it is green, pink, white, and orange. As a bonus, it is sooooooooo soft! I think that it was a pretty good deal for a $1 a piece. I got three, so i think it will turn out to be a nice scarf. It is done on 13's, all knit stitches. I will post some pics as soon as I can.
I have realized that I am totally addicted to knitting now. I love it. I just got the Knitting Rules! by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee. I also read her blog, and she is so easy to read, and funny, also. I got many great tips and ideas from this book. I had a hard time deciding between this book and Yarn Harlot, and I am definitely going back and getting Yarn Harlot now.
I have also joined a knitting group on Monday nights. It is usually only 4 ladies, including myself. It is really nice. They think that I knit funny, the way I throw my yarn, but it gets the job done and looks nice. I told them I really want to learn to knit socks, and they all looked at me like I said I was going to eat the yarn as opposed to knit with it. I still think that I can, but we will wait and see.
I read all these fiber blogs, and so wish I live in an area where people, especially people my age, knit, spin, dye, what have you. I would love to go to a sheep and wool festival. Heck, I would just love to have a LYS. However, you know the saying "Wish in one hand, crap in the other, and see which fills up first." But a girl can dream, can't she?

Off and Running

Here is my first post on my new blog! I am so excited. I have been reading blogs for what seems like forever, and now I have my own. I don't know what has taken me so long!
A little about my self....
I am a married social worker in Saint Joseph, Missouri. No kids yet, but two cats, Frank and Boris, who keep me on my toes.
I am an avid crocheter who is now cautiously wading into the knitting world. I love it! I have just finished my first project.......a scarf!! (Suprise, suprise!) It is all garter stitch, and pretty long. (I like my scarfs on the long side.) It is done in a grey heather. I am going to outline it in pink, and then sew some buttons on each end for decoration. I will get some pics up as soon as I can. I think that it turned out ok, for a first timer.
I will also put up some pics of Frank and Boris.
I hope everyone likes my blog!
